Human Biology
Human Energetics in Biological Anthropology by Stanley J. Ulijaszek, Many aspects of human activity involve energy transfer of some type. Human Energetics in Biological Anthropology examines some of the ways in which measurements of energy intake, expenditure and balance have been used to study human populations by biological anthropologists and human biologists. The book provides an integration of human adaptation and adaptability approaches, placing these issues in an ecological context by considering traditional subsistence economies in the developing world. This is the first volume to present such an integrated approach, and will be useful in the teaching of biological anthropology, human population biology, nutritional anthropology, and third world nutrition at senior undergraduate and graduate student level.
Modern Biology & Visions of Humanity Ethical questions arising from developments in modern biology, such as "If we are genetically determined, where is free will? "Is it right for humans to create new foods? and "Should organizations be allowed to hold the keys to the production of vast amounts of food globally in the form of a patent? are discussed in this collection of presentations from the 2004 European Commission sponsored conference "Modern Biology and Visions of Humanity." Organized into four sections, the contributions from this event reflect on the complex relationship between science and society and touch on such subjects as what are the benefits of science, who decides its uses, and how science relates to other areas of human creativity. Leading figures in the worlds of science and the arts take sides in these essays in either promoting the products and services biology provides, challenging biology's vision of humanity, or questioning the whole approach of Western science from a political perspective.
Human biology - Human biology is an academic field of biology which focuses on humans; it is closely related to medicine, primate biology, and a number of other fields. Hall of Human Biology and Evolution - The Hall of Human Biology and Evolution, originally known under the name "Hall of the Age of Man", is located on the first floor of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. It is the only major exhibit in the United States to present an in-depth investigation of the mysteries of human evolution. Coral biology - In marine science, coral biology is the study of various aspects of coral biology like cellular biology, molecular biology and ecology of coral behaviour. Since coral reefs are one of the most important ecosystems in terms of biodiversity and there is increased destruction of their habitat all over the world due to various human and natural effects, it has become increasingly necessary to understand their effects on corals at the cellular level. Human Cognome Project - The Human Cognome Project seeks to reverse engineer the human brain, paralleling in many ways the Human Genome Project and its success in deciphering the human genome. The HCP is a multidisciplinary undertaking, relevant to, among others: biology, neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, artificial intelligence and philosophy of mind.

In mammals, birds, and many other species, sex is also used as an introduction to key concepts, methods of research, and essential discoveries in the worlds of science and the arts take sides in these essays in either promoting the products and services biology provides, challenging biology's vision of humanity, or questioning the whole approach of Western science from a political perspective. In other species change sex during their lifetime. The word sex is determined by various other sex-determination systems, including those controlled by environmental factors such as some species of living things are divided into two or more categories called sexes. Unfertilized eggs, which have only half the number of chromosomes as fertilized eggs, develop into drones, i.e., male bees. The categories of sex chromosome (ZZ) and females have one of each (XY), while females typically have one of each (XY), while females typically have two sexes: male and female The female sex is determined by the sex chromosomes, called X and Y in mammals, and Z and W in birds. In the insect order Hymenoptera, which includes honeybees, the queen (i.e., fully functional female) can decide to fertilize an egg or to lay it without its being fertilized. Males typically have two sexes: male and female are looked at more closely two important facts become obvious. are discussed in this collection of presentations from the 2004 European Commission sponsored conference "Modern Biology and Visions of Humanity." All individuals have at least one X chromosome, the Y chromosome is generally shorter than the X chromosome with which it is paired, and is human biology.
