Methods of Modern Mathematical Physics: Scattering Theory by Michael Reed,

Methods of Modern Mathematical Physics: Scattering Theory by Michael Reed,
Scattering theory is the study of an interacting system on a scale of time and/or distance which is large compared to the scale of the interaction itself. As such, it is the most effective means, sometimes the only means, to study microscopic nature. To understand the importance of scattering theory, consider the variety of ways in which it arises. First, there are various phenomena in nature (like the blue of the sky) which are the result of scattering. In order to understand the phenomenon (and to identify it as the result of scattering) one must understand the underlying dynamics and its scattering theory. Second, one often wants to use the scattering of waves or particles whose dynamics on knows to determine the structure and position of small or inaccessible objects. For example, in x-ray crystallography (which led to the discovery of DNA), tomography, and the detection of underwater objects by sonar, the underlying dynamics is well understood. What one would like to construct are correspondences that link, via the dynamics, the position, shape, and internal structure of the object to the scattering data. Ideally, the correspondence should be an explicit formula which allows one to reconstruct, at least approximately, the object from the scattering data. The main test of any proposed particle dynamics is whether one can construct for the dynamics a scattering theory that predicts the observed experimental data. Scattering theory was not always so central the physics. Even thought the Coulomb cross section could have been computed by Newton, had he bothered to ask the right question, its calculation is generally attributed to Rutherford more than two hundred years later. Of course,Rutherford's calculation was in connection with the first experiment in nuclear physics.

PCT, Spin and Statistics, and All That by Raymond F. Streater,
PCT, Spin and Statistics, and All That by Raymond F. Streater,
"PCT, Spin and Statistics, and All That" is the classic summary of and introduction to the achievements of Axiomatic Quantum Field Theory. This theory gives precise mathematical responses to questions like: What is a quantized field? What are the physically indispensable attributes of a quantized field? Furthermore, Axiomatic Field Theory shows that a number of physically important predictions of quantum field theory are mathematical consequences of the axioms. Here Raymond Streater and Arthur Wightman treat only results that can be rigorously proved, and these are presented in an elegant style that makes them available to a broad range of physics and theoretical mathematics.

Logical data model - A logical data model is an abstract representation of a set of data entities and their relationship, usually including their key attributes. It may leave out non-key attributes or use abstractions of actual types, and there may be physical tables that are represented in the logical model by relationships or as aggregates within a larger entity, depending on the notation used and the level of abstraction.

Kassemann - Colloquially, the Kassemann (pronounced CASS-MAN) is a virile, masculine male in his physical prime, distinguished by pectoral muscles particularly voluminous relative to body-mass index (BMI). Although traditionally referring to masculine physical and sexual prowess, the term has come to connote intellectual prowess in conjunction with the aforementioned attributes.

Neutral monism - Neutral monism, in philosophy, is the metaphysical view that nature consists of one kind (hence monism) of primal stuff, which in itself is neither mental nor physical, but is capable of mental and physical aspects or attributes.

Logical schema - A Logical schema is a data model of a specific problem domain that has more detail than a conceptual schema, but does not include the design considerations and physical storage parameters found in a physical schema. A logical schema contains entities made up of attributes, and connected by relations.
